Zofiówka

You will find Zofiówka Park in the Ukrainian city of Uman. It is one of the most beautiful park layouts in this part of Europe. The establishment of Zofiówka was initiated in 1802. It was a form of quite a substantial gift from Stanisław Szczęsny Potocki for his third wife - Zofia Potocka. Previously, the area was practically devoid of trees, and its shape was also changed for the needs of the park. Two huge artificial ponds were created, connected by cascades, waterfalls and even an underground river.

The park initially covered an area of 160 hectares and was composed in a romantic style. Many gazebos, bridges, caves and sculptures were built. The Viper Fountain was for some time one of the largest fountains in Europe. I must admit that Stanisław Szczęsny Potocki must have loved his wife very much. Because he spent PLN 20 million on her gift. Even then, it was a staggering amount. Currently, the park is managed by the Academy of Science of Ukraine, which cares for it and constantly develops it. At the moment, Zofiówka boasts over 2,000 species of trees and shrubs , which cover 180 hectares. The park is open to visitors and is one of the major attractions of the region. This is one of the reasons why he was included in the list of the 7 Wonders of Ukraine.
