In the south-western part of Ukraine there is a small town called Khotyn . The history of these areas is turbulent, as they were often ruled by different countries. One of the effects of being an important border point is an amazing castle , which has been preserved in very good condition until today. A small wooden fortress was built here as early as 1140. In the following centuries, there were numerous reconstructions and extensions, and today you can see a fully-fledged and well-fortified castle. It is picturesquely situated above the Dniester River, slightly off the beaten track from the village.

Here we can visit the New Fortress , which houses an Orthodox church from 1835. The most impressive, however, is the Old Castle , which is surrounded by several meters high, imposing walls and 4 towers. It is entered through a drawbridge, and inside there is a castle crew building from the 16th century and a late-gothic castle chapel from the 15th century. numerous paintings that refer to the heyday of the fortress. After visiting the castle interiors, it is worth taking a stroll through the picturesque surroundings to see this amazing fortress from different sides.

For whom?

You definitely must visit Khotyn if you are interested in history, and above all, the threads of Polish history. It is also a real treat for people fascinated by battles. Quite a lot of them took place near Chocim.

From the outside, the building looks quite clumsy and does not encourage entry, but the interior is relatively new and nicely decorated. Our room was spacious and had working air conditioning. A very good place and probably the only one available in the reservation systems in Chocim. Private parking is available for an additional fee, but the price for accommodation is still very low.

Hotel Korona

Hotel Korona is of a really good standard. A good base for exploring the area if you have your own car/motorcycle. Both Kamieniec Podolski and the castle in Khotyn are close. The interior is very well-kept and properly cleaned. The staff was nice and willingly told us where to go to see something interesting. A decent hotel for little money.

A great place to relax in this part of Ukraine. The apartments are houses located away from the city and main roads. The area is quiet and peaceful, and the conditions are very good. A small but pleasant swimming pool and nicely arranged surrounding area. The houses with apartments are modern and very well-equipped, and additionally sensibly separated, so that the neighbors do not disturb you and you can relax. Of course, the place is only for people traveling by their own car, but it is worth staying here for a few days.
