Chernivtsi is the capital of Bukovina, which to this day is often called "the little Vienna of the East" . Although the city has a long history, it flourished in the 18th and 19th centuries. In the center you will notice many different influences, from Ukrainian to Austro-Hungarian to Romanian. During the walk you will be able to admire many interesting examples of European architecture from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries.

Chernivtsi

Chernivtsi, Ukraine

The oldest part of Chernivtsi has recently undergone a thorough revitalization. The biggest attraction is the Romanesque-Byzantine Metropolitan Palace , which was transformed into the University of Chernivtsi. The architecture of the university complex has been widely appreciated in the world and in 2011 it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List . Other important monuments of the city are the Town Hall from 1887, the Jewish People's House, the Romanian National Palace and the building of the Musical Theater. The historic center houses many original tenement houses, the Cathedral of the Descent of the Holy Spirit and the former synagogue, which was converted into a cinema after the Second World War. The heart of the city is the small Central Square , as well as a pleasant promenade, i.e. Olga Kobylańska Street.

For whom?

If you appreciate the architecture from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries , then in Chernivtsi you will have something to admire. You will also like the city when you like a lot of variety. It is a mixture of many different cultures and styles.

Central Magnat Cinema

Central Magnat Cinema has a very good location to get to know the city center better. All major attractions were within walking distance. Very good conditions, service and exemplary cleanliness of the place. The breakfasts were also ok. The only drawback is that you can't drive right to the hotel by car.

AllureInn Hotel and Restaurant Complex

A small hotel located in a restored tenement house. A very pleasant and atmospheric accommodation, and in the very center of the city, so we were close to everything. The hotel restaurant is worth recommending. The breakfasts were delicious, but it was also worth staying here for dinner.

Apart Hotel на Трояндовой

From the very entrance you can see that it is a newly opened hotel. Modern, but also very stylish interiors that are well-equipped. Nothing is missing and everything is of very good quality. The host was very helpful and did not make any problems with late check-out. The location is also good, because the walk to the very center took only a few minutes. Considering such conditions, the price is very attractive.

Panskiy Dvir

A high-class hotel in a classic style. It is located in the very center of the city and within a few minutes you can walk to the main promenade and most attractions. Our room was very spacious and well-equipped, it gave the impression of a palace. Cleanliness and service were at the highest level. The breakfasts were also very good.

Pelican Guest House & hostel

I highly recommend this place for a budget accommodation in the very center of the city. The double room offers very good conditions at a reasonable price. The building is hidden from the main streets, so it is quiet and peaceful. But on the other hand, all shops, pubs and attractions are right next door. The service and cleanliness were impeccable.
