Celebrated by Homer in the Iliad and Odyssey , Troy is located in northwestern Turkey , 350 km southwest of Istanbul. Its very name stimulates the imagination. After all, it is related to the story of mythical lovers - Helena and Paris , as well as a lot of other events with the famous Trojan horse at the forefront.

However, when in Turkey, is it worth visiting what is left of Troy? It is difficult to answer this question unequivocally, as much depends on how much you are interested in history and mythology. One thing is for sure. The ruins of Troy exist and are open to the public . They are perhaps not as impressive as the ones in Ephesus . But after all, Troy is a mythical city. And for that reason alone, it can be quite an intriguing place to see.
For whom?
Go to Troy primarily when you are fascinated by ancient history, excavations, ruins and, of course, mythology. If you don't meet these conditions, you may underestimate this place. The terrain of Troy does not look very impressive , which was probably largely influenced by the intensively conducted archaeological works there.
