Some people mistakenly believe that Istanbul is the capital of Turkey. However, this role is played by Ankara , located in the central part of the country. And although it is an important point on the Turkish map in terms of administration, not necessarily in terms of tourism. Even in the 1980s it was a small town. Currently, it has over 5 million inhabitants , and their number is constantly growing. However, although at first glance, this modern city has little to offer tourists, it is worth giving it a chance.

Ankara

Ankara, Turkey

First of all, it is worth visiting the citadel located here or the highly acclaimed Museum of Anatolian Civilizations . In addition, while in the capital, you must see Ataturk's Mausoleum. Ankara is also a very entertaining city . As befits the capital, there is really much to do here in the evenings. Therefore, if you want to get to know the Turkish capital a little better, then plan a stay with an overnight stay.

For whom?

Ankara will be the perfect destination if you like visiting big metropolises . It is difficult to find an intimate atmosphere in the Turkish capital when more than 5 million people are around. But the undoubted advantage of this city is that no matter what time of day you will definitely not be bored.

Deeps Hostel

If you are looking for a fairly cheap accommodation in the very center, then choose Deeps Hostel. In 5 minutes you will reach Ataturk's Mausoleum. It's super decorated and even in the dorms you can have some privacy. Another advantage of the hostel is the large garden surrounding it. It is a green oasis in the middle of the city.

Divan Cukurhan

In each city I visit, I look for a unique place to stay. This is how I found Divan Cukurhan in Ankara. It is located right next to the citadel. It occupies the interior of a former caravanserai, built during the Ottoman Empire. Great architecture, traditional but modern interior design, beautiful view of the city. You can feel the atmosphere there like from the series "Magnificent Century"!

Enerji Otel

Enerji Otel is a pleasant hotel in the heart of Ankara. You will find a lot of pubs and restaurants around. It is close to the most important monuments of the capital. A big advantage is free parking. The room was very spacious and the entire hotel quite intimate. A good place for traveling couples or singles.
Demora Hotel

Demora Hotel

During my stay in Ankara, I stayed at the Demora Hotel. It has a great location in the very center of the city. The price for a bed and breakfast in the capital of the country was surprisingly low. The room itself was nothing special, but it was clean and tidy. I recommend for 1-2 nights.
