Nowe Miasto nad Metuje is only a dozen or so kilometers from the border with Poland. It was erected on the rocks towering above the picturesque meandering river Metujia. The biggest attraction of the city is the late Gothic castle , which dates back to the beginning of the 16th century.

Nowadays, after many refurbishments, you can admire its amazing and richly decorated interiors. You will definitely go to the castle tower and take a walk in the gardens surrounding the fortress, where you will find interesting sculptures of gnomes and a unique wooden bridge. Right next to the castle there is a historic town square with charming, low tenement houses. They are distinguished by Renaissance architecture and arcaded arcades. Noteworthy is also the Marian Column from 1696 and the statue of the Holy Trinity from 1767. The New Town on Metuje also offers a large number of viewpoints. A walk along side streets will lead you to the rocks from which you will be able to admire the vast panorama of the area.

For whom?

If you appreciate historic, small towns , you will surely like Nowe Miasto nad Metují. Lovers of art and historic architecture will find several interesting buildings and attractions here. If you are planning a short trip to the Czech Republic , Nowe Miasto nad Metují, due to its proximity to the Polish border, will be a good choice.

Zámek Nové Město nad Metují

We went here for a weekend and staying overnight in the castle turned out to be a brilliant option. It's true that we were hoping for a more classic look of the room, but on the other hand it was well decorated. Additionally, it had good WiFi and a fridge. An interesting feature is breakfast served in the room. The price of accommodation also includes a tour of the castle. We'd love to come back here again!

Hotel Rajská zahrada

Hotel Rajská zahrada is located very close to the historic market square, on a rock cliff above the river. My room and the restaurant had fabulous views of the surrounding area. Comfortable bed, very good breakfast, and a small SPA available. Definitely a place worth recommending.

Penzion Na Hradčanech

A charming, small guesthouse located outside the main town, on the other side of the river from the old town. From there there is a wonderful view of the old town situated on a rock. Our room was very well equipped and maintained. There is also a kitchen and a terrace with a beautiful view. Very nice hosts take great care of all their guests. It is worth paying extra for breakfast, especially since the price of accommodation is very reasonable.

Penzion na Skale

The amazing atmosphere of both the town and the building in which the guesthouse is located. We had a top-level apartment, extremely spacious. We were delighted with every detail, from the door handles, decorations on the furniture, to the brass radiator heads. Plus these views! The hostess was very polite and helpful. The only drawback is the very narrow entrance to the parking lot, but we managed.

Pension Siesta

A modern guesthouse located off the beaten track. You have to drive everywhere by car, but on the other hand there is peace, quiet and beautiful views all around. Our room was very well equipped and we could also use the shared kitchen. A great option for a longer stay, because there are lots of interesting things to see in the area. After a day of sightseeing, you can still relax in the swimming pool or jacuzzi.
