Lauterbrunnen is a small town situated in a picturesque valley hidden between the Alpine peaks. Its name, translated as "loud phonntannas", refers to the phenomenon of the local landscape, which is the surrounding waterfalls . In total, there are as many as 72 of them, and the most famous of them, i.e. Staubbach , is almost 300 meters high and is one of the tallest in Europe.

Another interesting place is the Trummelbach waterfalls , hidden between the rocks, but accessible thanks to special tunnels and viewing terraces. The valley surrounding the town is one of the largest protected areas in Switzerland. Lauterbrunnen is the ideal starting point for excursions to the most famous places in the region. Thanks to a well-developed railway connected with roller coasters, you can easily get to the Jungfraujoch Pass , where there is the highest station in the world with spectacular views. In winter, the nearby resorts of Wengen-Kleine Scheidegg and Murren-Schilthorn offer skiers a total of over 200 km of pistes . In summer, however, an extensive network of hiking trails is available, and the idyllic landscape of the place is complemented by alpine meadows and charming mountain huts.

For whom?

Are you a lover of nature and great views ? Then Lauterbrunnen is absolutely for you! The valley in which the town is located is considered to be one of the most beautiful in all of Switzerland. In addition, Lauterbrunnen will be an interesting proposition for those who would like to enjoy the beauty of the mountain landscape, but without too much effort. Thanks to the railway and mountain lifts, everyone will be able to move to a bit more wild backwoods, among soaring peaks.

Hotel Staubbach

Probably the most expensive accommodation with a shared bathroom in my life. But you have to remember that this is Switzerland. Anyway, the conditions in the hotel were very good. It is an old but well-kept building, located in the very center of the atmospheric town. Overall, the hotel has a bit of a mountain shelter feel, but I really liked it. Another big advantage is the lack of parking problems.

Hotel Silberhorn

The hotel was a great base for us to explore the area. You could easily leave your car, because both the train and the roller coaster were right next to it, and they can take you almost everywhere. The building may not look like much from the outside, but the interior is relatively recently renovated. Our room was small but nicely decorated. We liked the large amount of wood in the decor. Very nice service and delicious breakfasts, with a lot of local products to choose from.

Valley Hostel

A combination of a hostel and a mountain shelter. Definitely the cheapest place to stay in the entire area, but the conditions were quite good in my opinion. Everything is clean and very well organized, also organizationally. We had a double room with a beautiful view of the valley. There is a well-equipped shared kitchen at your disposal. A great place to explore the area.

Hotel Oberland

The biggest advantage of the Oberland hotel is its location. It is located in the very center and is close to both the trains and the waterfall. The service is very nice and professional. The room wasn't very modern, but well kept and equipped with everything we needed. True, it's not cheap considering such old-school conditions, but the place and the views around are worth it!

Chalet Rosa B&B

A very nice place to spend a few days in the area and do some sightseeing. Right from the entrance, we were greeted by a very nice host. He was happy to advise us where to go and how to plan our few days to see the most interesting things. The room was quite large and comfortable. Breakfasts were plentiful and offered a large selection of products. The price was quite affordable considering Swiss conditions and the proximity of many attractions.
