Sant Maurici

Aigüestortes and Estany de Sant Maurici is the only national park in Catalonia . It covers the central part of the Spanish Pyrenees . The rocky peaks at over 3000 meters above sea level contrast with the large number of mountain lakes. Hence, it is sometimes called "the park of 200 lakes" .

You can explore numerous postglacial valleys and reach historic churches scattered throughout the park on numerous routes of varying difficulty. Due to the large differences in altitude (from 1,200 to 3,029 m above sea level), there is great biodiversity here. Dense coniferous forests are adjacent to high mountain glades and bare rocks.
