San Sebastian , or more precisely Donostia - San Sebastian (as its full name sounds like), is located in the north of Spain, close to the border with France . Most people associate this city with the world-famous film festival taking place there.

The Festival Internacional de Cine de San Sebastián has been organized since 1953, usually at the end of September. It attracts artists and guests from different parts of the globe. However, San Sebastian isn't all about movies. It is also worth visiting because of the pretty beaches and some interesting monuments , including the impressive cathedral.

For whom?

Are you looking for a place that will allow you to relax and delve a bit into the history of Spain ? If so, then San Sebastian would be a very good choice. The city offers a pleasant atmosphere, most of the time it is not very crowded , and the surrounding beaches and landscapes are truly enchanting.

In San Sebastian I had the opportunity to stay at the Tryp Orly Hotel. It is located right next to the main city beach. I got a room with a view of the bay and the coast. The hotel offers really good conditions and breakfast is included in the price. As for the cost of the stay, it was quite high. But this is probably influenced by the location.

I spent one night at the Lasala Plaza Hotel. It is located directly in the old town of San Sebastian and right on the seafront. Thanks to this, I was close to everything. The interior of the hotel is beautifully decorated. In the room I had a huge, very comfortable bed. Later I regretted not spending one more night there.

Pension Larrea

Pension Larrea

If you want to feel the atmosphere of San Sebastian, stay at the Larrea guesthouse. It is located in the old town, close to the beaches and the most important attractions. Jonathan, the owner, is a very nice and incredibly open person. I talked to him two evenings after returning from sightseeing. The guesthouse itself is intimate, neatly furnished, and staying there is not a big burden on your wallet.

Hotel Arrizul Beach

Hotel Arrizul is an amazing, very modern facility, located by the beach. If you appreciate interesting architecture, you will definitely like it there. After 4 days I spent there, I say it was a good choice. A comfortable room with a beautiful view. Nice and unobtrusive service. The only downside was the lack of parking directly within the hotel. You have to leave your car in the square located 4 minutes' walk from it.
