Picos de Europa is a mountain range located in the north of Spain . Its amazing natural values are evidenced by the fact that as early as 1918 it was under protection as part of the national park . You will find there mostly soaring, rocky peaks. The highest of them all is Torrecerredo , 2648 m above sea level. However, the most recognizable peak, which is a symbol of the whole region, is Naranjo de Bulnes .

There are plenty of hiking trails in the Picos de Europa National Park, the most popular of which are those to Lagos de Covadonga and Ruta del Cares. The great advantage of this park is the fact that many amazingly scenic spots are available to everyone. This is due to the fact that you can get to some of them by car or by roller coaster, climbing over 2,000 m above sea level.

For whom?

If you love nature and hiking, Picos de Europa is definitely the place for you. In addition, it is a great place for fans of active tourism , as there are many options available here, such as: climbing, canyoning, horse riding, river rafting. If you are interested in speleology , you will also have something to do there. There are many caves in the National Park. Some are on the list of the deepest caves ever explored in the world. In winter, two well-developed ski resorts await skiers here .

Hotel La Cepada

It was one of the better hotels during our tour of Spain. Located on the sidelines of the town of Cangas de Onis, which is an ideal base for trips to the Picos de Europa mountains. The hotel itself is in a quiet area and offers amazing views of the surrounding area from virtually every side. For those traveling by car, the hotel has a private parking lot, and you can also eat very well on site. I recommend!

My wife and I chose this small hotel to escape from crowded cities in high season. And it was a great choice. The lovely host tried his best to ensure a comfortable stay for us. He served delicious breakfasts with local products. A perfect place to discover the surrounding amazing nature in peace and quiet.

Arcea Gran Hotel Pelayo

We were looking for accommodation close to the sanctuary in Covadonga, but we didn't expect to find it so close! The location allows you to leave your car alone for a few days and explore the area on foot. The views are breathtaking. The hotel itself is of a good standard and at a reasonable price. Very tasty breakfasts. Overall, we recommend it!

Parador de Fuente Dé

It is quite an old, but well-kept and incredibly atmospheric hotel. What is most impressive is its location. In the background you can see the amazing peaks of the Picos de Europa mountains. Right next to it, there is a lower station of the mountain railway, which in a few minutes can take you to over 2000 m above sea level. The hotel rooms were fine. There is a nicely decorated garden with a small playground for children. The dishes in the hotel restaurant were delicious, but unfortunately expensive and there were no other food alternatives in the area.

Hotel-Posada La Casa de Frama

We came here on the recommendation of our friends and we were not disappointed! We arrived at the hotel late in the evening. The next morning, when we saw the views around us, we were speechless. It's magical here. The room was clean and comfortable, and the hosts welcome everyone with open arms. A nice garden where you can relax with beautiful views after a day in the mountains.
