<p>Due to the fact that Cartagena is not the most popular Spanish city, <strong>you can go there during the peak season and be sure that you will not be visiting in crowds</strong> . In summer you have to take into account higher temperatures. So if you don&#39;t like them, visit Cartagena in early spring or autumn.</p>

When to visit Cartagena?

<p>Within the city center <strong>you will find one of the largest European archaeological parks</strong> . In addition, you will be able to see quite a nice viewpoint and visit interesting museums. </p><figure id="attachment_71597" class="wp-caption alignleft hero-image"><img class="size-medium wp-image-71597" src="https://media.brate.com/images/europa/hiszpania/kartagena/kartagena-5.jpeg?tr=n-hero" alt="Cartagena" width="500" height="326"><figcaption class="caption"> Cartagena, Spain - © Brate</figcaption></figure><h3> Molinet Archaeological Park</h3><p> One of Cartagena&#39;s more famous attractions is <strong>the Molinet Archaeological Park</strong> (Parque Arqueológico Cerro del Molinete). It is located in the city center and covers an area of 26,000 m². He is considered as<strong> </strong>one of the largest parks of this type in Europe, located within close urban development. On its territory you will see the remains of buildings dating from the 3rd century BC. When visiting this corner of Cartagena, be sure <strong>to climb the hill with the ruins of the windmills</strong> . There is a pleasant panorama of the city from here.</p><h3> Ascensor panoramic</h3><p> Most of Cartagena&#39;s attractions are quite old. But <strong>the Ascensor panorámico</strong> (Calle Gisbert 10), a special elevator, stands out among them. You can get there <strong>to the hill with the fortress - Castillo de la Concepción</strong> . If you don&#39;t like elevators, then you can go up the stairs. This castle was built between the 13th and 14th centuries. It is one of the symbols of Cartagena, immortalized on its coat of arms. Another point of interest located on the hill is <strong>a bunker from the Spanish Civil War</strong> of 1936-39. You will learn how the bombings took place, what the city&#39;s defense looked like and the stories of the people who took part in it.</p><h3> Roman Theater</h3><p> Another important symbol of Cartagena is <strong>the Roman theater</strong> . It dates back to the 1st century AD. Interestingly <strong>, it was discovered quite late, in 1988.</strong> Its <strong>stands could accommodate 6,000 people</strong> . The entrance ticket is quite expensive. It allows you to explore the secrets <strong>of the maritime history of Spain</strong> , from the construction of ships, through objects recovered from the seabed, to equipment used in navigation and diving.</p>

Cartagena monuments

<p><strong>Cartagena</strong> is located <strong>50 km south of Murcia</strong> . It is an important commercial and military port city with <strong>a long and quite rich history.</strong> First of all, you will find here a <strong>lot of souvenirs of antiquity</strong> . One of the most famous objects of Carrageenan are <strong>the ruins of the Roman theater</strong> , which were found completely by accident. Anyway, if you are interested in archeology, there is something to do in the city. In addition to the aforementioned theater, you will see the <strong>Molinete Archaeological Park</strong> or several interesting museums there. Thanks to the intimate atmosphere prevailing in Cartagena, you will also be able to spend a nice time strolling through its picturesque streets. </p><div id="attachment_68125" class="wp-caption alignleft" style="width: 500px;"><img class="size-medium wp-image-68125" src="https://media.brate.com/images/europa/hiszpania/kartagena/kartagena.jpg?tr=n-hero" alt="Cartagena Hamelin" width="500" height="332"><p class="caption"> Cartagena, Spain</p></div><h2> For whom?</h2><p> <strong>Do you like history</strong> Are <strong>you fascinated by antiquity</strong> ? The NH Cartagena is an elegant hotel located in the heart of the city. I spent one night there, but I could easily go back there. Mainly because of the delicious and very diverse breakfasts. The room was fine, the bed was very comfortable. It was a two-minute walk to the port.

I recommend staying at Hotel Cartagonova. Modern, spacious and bright room. It is close to the center and the area is quiet and peaceful. The only downside is the additional paid parking. But the price of the stay included a nice breakfast.

B&B Hotel Cartagena Cartagonova

The stay at Hotel Los Habaneros was not the cheapest, but in Cartagena it is generally difficult to find very cheap accommodation. It is located next to several parks. From the balcony I had a nice view of the square where it stands. Nice interiors, nice service, tasty meals. After sightseeing, I eagerly returned there to relax.

Since I&#39;m traveling alone, I decided to stay in a hostel. I spent two nights at LoopINN hostel. A great place if you like modern architecture and design. The interiors are amazingly decorated, very bright and spacious. Plus a roof terrace with a great view. This was one of the better hostels I&#39;ve ever stayed in.
