Smederevo is a city located on the Danube , east of Belgrade . The Serbian capital is 63 km away. The greatest attraction of Smederev is the medieval fortress, considered one of the best-preserved lowland strongholds in Europe .

Smederevo is usually a stopover on the road for those who travel from Serbia to Romania and plan to drive along the Iron Gate, the amazing Danube gorge. The town offers a peaceful atmosphere and a pleasant atmosphere conducive to relaxation . An interesting fact about Smederev is that several popular Serbian, rock and metal bands are derived from it.

For whom?

Certainly if you are planning to drive from Belgrade to Romania (or vice versa) then plan even a short stop in Smedereva. You will also like the town if you are looking for places not trodden by tourists and quieter than the bustling, crowded Serbian capital.

In Smederevo, we had the opportunity to stay overnight in Nikolas Grand Apartments, located in the very center of the city. We literally had a 3-minute walk to the fortress. Everything is there as it should be. From the decor, through cleanliness and friendly service. This place will be a good option for both transit accommodation and a longer stay.

The hostel is located close to the Danube, west of Smederev. I can recommend this place with a clear conscience. Beautiful views of the river, garden on the hill, nice rooms. I stayed in a shared dormitory, but I was alone there. Generally, there were no crowds there or in the city during the peak season.

Vila Mila Riverside Apartments

We highly recommend staying at Vila Mira. A wonderful place to relax. The villa is located right on the bank of the Danube. There is a swimming pool in the garden and sun loungers. The apartment we rented was modern and fully furnished (we also had a kitchenette). Despite everything, we ordered breakfast and it was delivered to the apartment.

Etno Apartments Dunav

Etno Apartments Dunav is a perfect place for everyone who is looking for places with soul. I got there by accident, and then I didn't want to leave. Not only was the apartment extremely atmospheric (finished with wood, with stylish furniture), but the owners also provided excellent food. However, I do not recommend coming there if you are on a diet. Additionally, the guesthouse is located on the Danube. You can swim in the river or kayak.
