Inverness is the capital of the Scottish Highlanders. The city is very popular among tourists and the Scots themselves. Where does this interest come from? Inverness is not only attractive, it is also a great base for attractions such as Loch Ness (who has not dreamed of seeing the famous monster with your own eyes?) And the many castles for which the Highlands is famous. It is worth adding that according to the online poll, in 2014 it was considered the happiest place to live in Scotland .

In the city itself, be sure to visit the Inverness Museum and Art Gallery , St. Andrew and the beautiful Inverness Castle located on a picturesque hill. The Ness Islands are recommended for a walk - islands connected by bridges, which offer the possibility of strolling through the wonderful vegetation, in peace and quiet. The Merkinch Local Nature Reserve Wildlife is also worth visiting, where you will be able to hike on wooden footbridges surrounded by wonderful nature and views.

Who is Inverness for?

Inverness is a quiet, very picturesque city where you will be able to visit places of great value as well as go for walks . It is also a great base for excursions in the Highlands.

Bunchrew House Hotel

Bunchrew House Hotel is a luxurious property located in a 17th-century Scottish mansion. We were charmed by its landscaped garden, forests and, of course, free parking. The food is delicious, and you can also admire the magical view of Beauly Bay. We highly recommend it!

Inverness Lochardil House Hotel BW Signature Collection

The hotel is located close to the center. Just about a 20-minute walk and you will be there. A plus for the friendly service and the fact that after checking out we could leave our luggage and go sightseeing. Each room has a bathroom, TV and tea and coffee making facilities. Nice place for a weekend.

Blackfriars

Blackfriars is 1 kilometer from the castle and the Caledonian Canal, so the location is really good. You can use the bar on site, but the prices are too high in our opinion. It's a pity that our room was next to a fire door and it slammed every time someone passed by. Apart from that everything's ok.

Carisbrooke Guest House

Carisbrooke Guest House offers beautiful and well-kept rooms with private bathrooms. The breakfast was delicious, even though it was basic products such as cheese, ham and oatmeal. The location is great, a few minutes walk from the city center.

Eildon Guest House

Eildon Guest House is run by a very nice host who told us a lot about the area and advised us what to visit. A big plus for the location. The city center can be reached within a few minutes on foot. The downside was the thin walls, so we could hear guests from the next room.
