Katowice

Katowice is perhaps not the most obvious choice when it comes to the destination of a day or weekend trip. However, the mining capital has undergone a considerable metamorphosis over the years and from a gray, slightly overwhelming city it has become an interesting and dynamically developing place. It is worth starting your stay in Katowice from its two most characteristic districts, i.e. Nikiszowiec and Giszowiec. In the first one, you will see brick family houses, i.e. residential buildings erected in this place at the beginning of the 20th century for the miners of one of the local mines.

Of course, your stay in Katowice will not be complete if you do not see the famous Spodek close-up, i.e. the sports and entertainment hall, a kind of symbol of the city, hosting numerous cultural and sports events. It is part of the Culture Zone . It also includes the Silesian Museum, the International Congress Center and the Polish National Radio Symphony Orchestra. The entire zone allows you to have an insight into the interesting architecture of the facilities located there, while being a great place for a walk or a moment of relaxation. And if you are in the walking areas, be sure to drop by the Silesian Park . This is where you will find the famous Planetarium, but also the zoo, numerous cycling and running paths, and the Legendia amusement park right next to it.
For whom?
Katowice is a great option if you are looking for a slightly more alternative destination . The city allows you to admire extraordinary architecture. And by following the trail of local murals, you will reach many interesting nooks and crannies of Katowice. You will learn the history of the city in its older districts, such as Nikiszowiec or Giszowiec. Walkers will also have something to do here. The Silesian Park with its numerous attractions awaits them.
