Sveti Stefan , next to Boka Kotorska, is one of the most important symbols of Montenegro . Most of the folders advertising the advantages of this Balkan country contain photos showing this picturesque island with stone houses with red roofs. However, if you are already eager to walk along the cobbled streets, we need to cool down your aspirations.

Sveti Stefan

Sveti Stefan, Montenegro - © Brate

Until recently, Sveti Stefan was available to ordinary tourists. Some time ago it was transformed into an exclusive hotel that cares about the privacy of its guests . Especially that stars such as Sophia Loren or the famous tennis player Novak Đjoković rest there. Gray citizens are left to photograph the islet from a distance or have a very wealthy wallet, because accommodation costs a small fortune there.

For whom?

Although you are unlikely to have access to the islet, you should definitely take a look at its surroundings. There are some nice beaches here, and if you like to photograph , you will find several viewpoints from which Sveti Stefan looks like a postcard.

Recommended accomodations

Here are the accommodations that we can recommend with a clear conscience. We only recommend hotels that we have visited ourselves.

Hotel California

We couldn't afford to stay overnight on the island, so we decided to stay at the Hotel California. It's not very cheap either. But it was within our financial reach anyway. Its greatest advantage is the view of the island, beaches and sea. Conditions – perfect. Meals – very tasty. Recommended for traveling couples.

Guest House Sea Breeze

One of the cheaper places to stay in Sveti Stefan is the Sea Breeze guesthouse. We spent three nights there. Area is very calm. The guesthouse itself is a very intimate place. From there we took trips to Budva or Petrovac na Moru. The room was cozy and had everything we needed to be happy.

Apartmani More

After a week spent in Apartments More in Sveti Stefan, I can say that it was an excellent choice. My wife and I lived in an apartment on one of the higher floors, thanks to which we had a beautiful view of the sea from the terrace. Wine drunk in such natural circumstances tasted like ambrosia. The apartment itself was fully equipped and considering the location and quality it was relatively cheap.

Guest House Harmonia

Guest House Harmonia is not located right next to the islet, but a bit further south, on the main road. I fell in love with this place at first sight. The guesthouse is located among trees, on a mountain slope. There is a swimming pool and a great garden on site. The room was great. And the view – fabulous!
