Bar

In Montenegro, the phrase "I'm going / going to Bar" takes on a completely different meaning. Because Bar is a coastal city that is the largest port of this Balkan country . It offers connections, among others with the Italian city of Birindisi. It is also an important communication junction , as it is reached by rail, which allows you to get to most important cities in Montenegro and to Belgrade in Serbia.

In terms of architecture, Bar is perhaps not the most beautiful point on the Montenegrin coast. However, it is worth visiting because of the ruins of the Old Bar located about 5 km from its center. It is an exceptionally picturesque place, situated at the foot of the majestic Rumija range . The bar can therefore be a stop on the way, for example, to Ulcinj or towards the Montenegrin-Albanian border crossing.

The bar as a city is not outstanding interesting. But there are quite a few nice beaches in the area. Therefore, Bar can be a good base for exploring this part of the Montenegrin coast . If you want to go sightseeing, then be sure to go to the ruins of the Old Bar. The city itself will appeal to connoisseurs.
