Rostock is a port city, picturesquely situated along the mouth of the Warnow River into the Mecklenburg Bay, which is part of the Baltic Sea. Its beginnings date back to the 6th century, but its greatest boom was in the 15th century. Then a university was founded in the city, which was one of the first in the whole of northern Europe. After World War II, Rostock developed as one of the most important ports in the region. The city center and its old town are inland.

At the main square, apart from numerous Renaissance tenement houses, there is one of the largest monuments in the city - St. Mary's Church . Inside the building, which dates back to the 15th century, you will see, among other things, the historic Astronomical Clock. It is also worth visiting the Lutheran Church of St. Peter . A 117 meter high tower is part of it, which today also serves as an observation deck. The recreational part of the city of Rostock is primarily made up of the district of Warnemunde , which is located by the sea. Formerly it was a small fishing village, but now it is a resort with a wide sandy beach and an atmospheric promenade. There is also a port here, which is currently one of the largest passenger ports in the country, and it is also here that the largest cruise ships with tourists from all over the world dock.

For whom?

If you value law and order, and at the same time would like to spend time on the Baltic Sea, the city of Rostock will be the perfect destination for you. Additionally, if you are interested in the history of this region, check out one of the oldest universities in this part of Europe. You will appreciate this corner of Germany also when you are looking for a place where you can combine relaxation on the beach with visiting interesting monuments.

Radisson Blu Hotel Rostock

I went to Rostock for tourist purposes, but I wanted to get to know the city itself more than its seaside part. The hotel's location was perfect, right next to the Lange Strasse pedestrian street. Everything is easy to get to on foot or by public transport. As befits a Radisson, the hotel offers a high standard. Nice service and very tasty meals. The rooftop observation deck is amazing. The only minus is the additional paid parking.

Motel One Rostock

A perfect place to spend an extended weekend. Thanks to its central location, everything is close. Walk to the Old Town - several minutes. The room was small, but very well thought out and comfortable. The service was nice and smiling. If you come here by your own car, remember to reserve parking.

Hotel GreifenNest

This is my third visit to Rostock and my second visit to this hotel and, as always, I had a great time here. Location close to the old town, good conditions, interesting decor and good atmosphere. The local breakfasts are unbeatable and always surprise with interesting flavors. In addition, very nice staff and convenient parking, all at a reasonable price considering the local conditions.

Strand-Hotel Hübner

The hotel is ideally located on the beach in the seaside area of Rostock. A very atmospheric place in a stylish building. We were here off-season, so we had peace, quiet and perfect conditions for relaxation. It was no longer possible to swim in the sea, but the swimming pool and hotel SPA with a view of the Baltic Sea were incredibly pleasant. The room was very comfortable and the breakfasts were delicious. A place worth recommending.

Hotel Neptun

A top-class hotel located right on the beach in Warnemunde. A tall, modern skyscraper that offers great views from the room, but the best views are from the Skybar, a cafe located on the roof of the building. The room equipment is complete and very comfortable. There is also a swimming pool and an extensive SPA center. Staying here is not cheap, but definitely worth the price.
