Rostock
Autorka, Travelbay
Rostock is a port city, picturesquely situated along the mouth of the Warnow River into the Mecklenburg Bay, which is part of the Baltic Sea. Its beginnings date back to the 6th century, but its greatest boom was in the 15th century. Then a university was founded in the city, which was one of the first in the whole of northern Europe. After World War II, Rostock developed as one of the most important ports in the region. The city center and its old town are inland.

At the main square, apart from numerous Renaissance tenement houses, there is one of the largest monuments in the city - St. Mary's Church . Inside the building, which dates back to the 15th century, you will see, among other things, the historic Astronomical Clock. It is also worth visiting the Lutheran Church of St. Peter . A 117 meter high tower is part of it, which today also serves as an observation deck. The recreational part of the city of Rostock is primarily made up of the district of Warnemunde , which is located by the sea. Formerly it was a small fishing village, but now it is a resort with a wide sandy beach and an atmospheric promenade. There is also a port here, which is currently one of the largest passenger ports in the country, and it is also here that the largest cruise ships with tourists from all over the world dock.
