Gorlitz on the German side and Zgorzelec on the Polish side are two towns on the Neisse River. Of course, it's worth taking the time to do both. Gorlitz deserves attention mainly for its 500-year history, which is represented by over 3,000 wonderful monuments. In addition to medieval architecture, you will also find great examples of Art Nouveau here. One of the most important is the department store on Demianiplatz.

Görlitz

Gorlitz, Germany - © Brate

Be sure to visit the majestic Evangelical Church of St. Peter and Paul . The best view is from the Staromiejski Bridge. If you want to see the old town from above, then you have to climb to the top of the Fat Tower . While walking around Gorlitz, you will quickly notice that interesting and beautiful buildings are abundant here. Some of them hide museums, such as the Toy Museum , which will appeal to both adults and children.

For whom?

Visit Gorlitz if you are planning a visit to Zgorzelec anyway. It is also an ideal destination for history fans , especially the medieval one. If you value beautiful and diverse architecture , then you will also not be bored here.

Hotel Europa

In Gorlitz, I recommend Hotel Europa, which is located in a beautiful, elegant tenement house. Additionally, it is located in the very center, so it is a good base for sightseeing and getting to know the atmosphere of the city. The price was really very competitive. In addition, it included a very good breakfast.

Romantik Hotel Tuchmacher

Romantik Hotel Tuchmacher was a perfect choice for a trip to Gorlitz. A big plus is that some of the staff speak Polish, which made the stay easier. The building itself is really charming, it actually has a romantic aura about it. Breakfasts could be a bit better, but on the other hand, there are so many pubs around that you won't go hungry anyway.

Hotel Meridian

I spent one night at the Meridian hotel. A very good place to stay. There are no great fireworks, but it is neat, clean and relatively cheap. It also has its own parking lot, which is convenient because it is located in the center. WiFi works well and the service is nice.

Hotel Obermühle

A nice hotel located on the outskirts of Gorlitz, and on the banks of the Neisse River. A very picturesque, quiet area that was absolutely perfect for relaxing after visiting the city. The atmosphere there is very homely. The room was cozy. I recommend!
