Fussen

The Bavarian city of Fussen (Füssen) is a great base from which to visit some of the most important attractions in this region of Germany. Right next to it, there is the famous Neuschwanstein castle, which appears as a puzzle and postcard motif, and was also a prototype for the Disney's castle of Princess Snow White.

Its neighbor is another fortress, the Hohenschwangau , which has an equally intriguing architecture. If you want to experience the wonderful mountain views, then be sure to take the Tegelbergbahn . Once you reach the top station, you will be able to go trekking or simply relax amongst the wonderful scenery. In Fussen itself, you can visit another castle (Hohes Schloss) and a monastery. In addition, the city has a very nice location - on the Lech River and the shores of Lake Forggensee.
