Mestia

Mestia is the largest city and the heart of the Svaneti region, considered by many to be the most beautiful in Georgia. It is a typical mountain area that has been effectively isolated from the surrounding world for centuries. Thanks to this, it has retained its cultural and architectural distinctiveness. This is one of the reasons why Mestia, along with the entire region, has been included in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List .

The characteristic stone defense towers are the hallmark and a real treasure . Many of them have survived to this day in good condition. A museum has been created that allows you to get to know the local ethnic group of Swans and visit the interior of one of the historic towers. Mestia is surrounded by the impressive Caucasus Mountains . In summer, tourists can go on numerous trails to admire the amazing mountain views or, for example, to go to the edge of a glacier. In winter, however, more and more skiers visit Mestia. The third largest ski resort in Georgia is located here . The slopes with a total length of over 13 km reach a height of almost 3200 m above sea level
