Rummu is a small village known for its phenomenal excavation and lake offering great opportunities for divers. This place has only recently become a tourist attraction. Previously, for many years, it was an opencast plate limestone mine. While working in the field , a 2.5 km long and over 75 meters wide pit was carved out.

A prison was established right next to the quarry, the penitentiaries of which were used as labor force in the extraction. Ultimately, the excavation was closed in 1990, and the prison in 2012. When the pumps, which previously drained the quarry non-stop, were disconnected, the resulting cavity quickly filled with water, flooding also some of the prison buildings. The mining waste has created a picturesque, interestingly shaped heap . Today the lake is known as an interesting center of water sports . Thanks to the crystal clear water with high transparency, you can take advantage of attractions such as diving into abandoned prison buildings and mining machines, or snorkeling. In addition, kayaking and SUPs, and relaxing on the shores of the lake are also popular here.

If you are looking for original places to visit and would like to relax by the water, you must visit Rummu.
