Goli Island
Autorka, Travelbay
The island of Goli (Goli Otok) is a small island in the vicinity of Rab. At first glance, it seems quite inconspicuous. However, her past can make you shiver. Under Yugoslavia and the rule of Tito, one of the heavier labor camps was created there , to which political prisoners were sent. The name of the island can be translated as naked or naked. There is no lush vegetation there. So in summer it is extremely hot there, and in winter terribly cold. Thus, the prisoners had to struggle not only with the burden of work in the quarry or factories, but also with difficult weather conditions. Since 1988, the camp no longer exists. At present, Goli Island is a popular destination for excursions.
