Sutjeska is located in the south-eastern part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, right on the border with Montenegro . It is the oldest Bosnian national park. On its territory rises the highest peak of Bosnia and Herzegovina, i.e.Maglić. The area is also known for the Battle of Sutjeska during World War II. During its course, the Axis forces wanted to destroy the Yugoslav partisan units stationed on the Sutjeska River. Among the partisans was the future president of Yugoslavia - Josip Broz Tito. Despite the significant advantage, the Axis countries suffered a defeat, which significantly changed the situation of the Yugoslav troops during the war.
