The most beautiful and best time to visit Kozara National Park is spring . Then the entire area is bathed in intense greenery, and the temperatures are favorable for outdoor activities.

When to visit Kozar?

The biggest attraction of Kozara National Park is undoubtedly the memorial park with a monument from World War II.<h3> Memorial Park </h3><figure id="attachment_71597" class="wp-caption alignleft hero-image"><img class="size-medium wp-image-71597" src="https://media.brate.com/images/europa/bosnia-i-hercegowina/kozara/kozara-6.jpeg?tr=n-hero" alt="Kozara" width="500" height="326"><figcaption class="caption"> Memorial park, Bosnia and Herzegovina - © Brate</figcaption></figure> The most important and most frequently visited place in the Kozara National Park is the memorial park in Mrakovica. It consists of the Revolution Monument, a museum and a memorial wall . The entire complex was built in 1972. It commemorates soldiers who died in these areas during World War II. The monument is 33 m high and is intended to remind us of the heroism and enormous sacrifice of people from the Kozara region. The monument is surrounded by concrete columns. However, 9,921 names of soldiers killed in battles in this area of Bosnia and Herzegovina are carved on the wall. The history of these events is presented in the museum operating here.<h3> Mostanica Monastery</h3> While in the area, you can also visit the Moštanica Monastery. It is located about 14 km north of Mrakovica. It was first mentioned in the 16th century. The famous Petar Pecija Petrović, who became famous as the leader of the anti-Turkish uprising, was buried there.

What to see in Kozara Park?

If you like spending time actively , you will certainly not be bored in the Kozara National Park. There are 4 hiking trails, 3 bicycle trails, several climbing routes, and a small ski slope.<h3> Hiking tours </h3><figure id="attachment_71597" class="wp-caption alignleft hero-image"><img class="size-medium wp-image-71597" src="https://media.brate.com/images/europa/bosnia-i-hercegowina/kozara/kozara-mrakovica.jpeg?tr=n-hero" alt="Mrakovic Kozar" width="500" height="326"><figcaption class="caption"> Mrakovica, Kozara, Bosnia and Herzegovina - © Brate</figcaption></figure> If you like hiking, you can opt for the following trips during your stay in Kozara National Park. The trail called Mrakovica is 4.4 km long and takes the form of a loop around the memorial park. The second option is a two-hour, pleasant route on the section: Mrakovica (806 m above sea level) - Šupljikovac (652 m) - Gumline (520 m) - Kriva strana (723 m9 - Vinogreč (816 m) - Gola planina (876 m). In progress After crossing it, you reach the highest peak of the massif. A very scenic proposition is the trail: Mrakovica (806 m above sea level) - Gavrin kalem (750 m) - Glavuša (793 m) - Bešića poljana (784 m) - Kozarački kamen (658 m). The shortest trail is the one leading to Zečija kamen . This place is considered one of the most beautiful in the park. All of them were routed in the form of a loop. They start and end in Mrakovica. The shortest trail is 4 km long, the medium one is 34 km long , and the largest one is 64 km long. They will appeal to slightly more advanced cyclists who are not afraid of overcoming significant elevation changes (the longest route has an elevation difference of 2,350 m).<h3> ski resort</h3> If by some miracle you visit Kozara in winter, you may be interested in the fact that there is a small ski resort there. It has 3 ski slopes . The first one is 700 m long and is served by a drag lift with a capacity of 900 people/hour. The second one is 900 m long and is served by a ski lift with a capacity of 1,500 people/hour. The third one is a children&#39;s route, 450 m long, served by a rope tow.<h3> Rock climbing</h3> There are 21 climbing routes in Zecija kamen , the difficulty of which is classified from VI to VIII +. Their length ranges from 10 to 60 m. They will especially appeal to slightly more experienced climbing enthusiasts.

Active recreation in Kozara

Kozara National Park is located in the northwest of <a href="https://brate.com/europe/bosnia-and-herzegovina/">Bosnia and Herzegovina</a> . It covers the area of Kozara Mountain , which, although not high (reaches about 1000 m above sea level), is exceptionally picturesque. I recommend it to everyone who likes to be close to nature. It is located right next to the memorial park with a monument. Peace and quiet, nice rooms, good food served in the restaurant. And a low price. I will go back there!
