<p>In the case of Liege, the time of year does not matter much. The city almost always looks good. And in bad weather you can hide under the roofs of churches or museums. However, if you would like to combine a visit to Liege with a visit to Spa, then you should rather aim for <strong>the summer months</strong> .</p>

When to visit Liege?

<p>In the case of Liege, it is definitely worth remembering that interesting places and monuments are not only located <strong>within the very center</strong> , but also <strong>outside it</strong> . The first building was built in this place in the 12th century. After it burned down, another one was built in the 15th century. Unfortunately, he suffered the same fate. The current palace was built in the 18th century. It looks really beautiful. The square around it is a popular meeting place.</p><h3> Archéoforum</h3><p> <strong>Archéoforum</strong> (Place Saint-Lambert) is an underground museum complex <strong>with an area of 3,725 m²</strong> (making it the largest unit of this type in Europe). It shows all historical periods of Liege - from antiquity to modern times. There are also remains of ancient and medieval buildings in the Archéoforum area. It delights with its architectural, although somewhat raw craftsmanship. You can find there one of the most beautiful Gothic cloisters in all of Belgium. It is also worth paying attention to the intricate stained glass windows from the 17th century. While in the cathedral, be sure to also check out its <strong>treasury</strong> (Trésor de la cathédrale). You will see many precious items there, and the amount of gold may make you dizzy.</p><h3> Walloon Museum</h3><p> Liege is the largest city in Wallonia, which is the French-speaking part of Belgium. The city has a very interesting <strong>Walloon Museum</strong> (Musée de la vie wallonne, Rue des Mineurs), which presents the history of this part of the country. The exhibition is divided into several parts (including ethnographic, economic, historical, etc.). This temple belonged to the Benedictine abbey. It was built in the 11th century in the Gothic style and rebuilt several centuries later. The interior delights with rich decorations, numerous sculptures, as well as an amazing organ and stained glass windows.</p><h3> Montagne de Bueren </h3><figure id="attachment_71597" class="wp-caption alignleft hero-image"><img class="size-medium wp-image-71597" src="https://media.brate.com/images/europa/belgia/liege/liege-2.jpg?tr=n-hero" alt="Liège" width="500" height="326"><figcaption class="caption"> Montagne de Bueren, Liege, Belgium - © Brate</figcaption></figure><p> This rather complicated name hides <strong>a street with 374 steps</strong> . It connects the Féronstrée et Hors-Château district with Au Péri and the entrance to the citadel. It climbs to a height of 132 m above sea level, and the length of the entire street is 270 m. The first buildings were built here around the 11th century and subsequent reconstructions and expansions were carried out over the following centuries. Without a doubt, it is one of the most scenic places in Liege and also a favorite walking destination. Especially since there is also a large park within the citadel. It&#39;s worth coming here at sunset.</p><h3> Le Grand Curtius Museum</h3><p> <strong>Le Grand Curtius Museum</strong> (Féronstrée 136) operates directly on the banks of the Meuse River. It was created from the merger of three previously existing institutions, i.e. the Weapons Museum, the Glass Museum and the Museum of Archeology and Decorative Art. The currently existing unit has five main exhibitions: archaeological, weapons, sacred and Mosan art, decorative art and glass. It was built at the beginning of the 11th century. Inside you can admire one of the seven wonders of Belgium, an amazing brass baptismal font from the 12th century.</p><h3> Guillemins Station </h3><figure id="attachment_71597" class="wp-caption alignleft hero-image"><img class="size-medium wp-image-71597" src="https://media.brate.com/images/europa/belgia/liege/liege-guillemins.jpeg?tr=n-hero" alt="Liège Guillemins" width="500" height="326"><figcaption class="caption"> Guillemins, Liege, Belgium - © Brate</figcaption></figure><p> If you would like to see one of Liege&#39;s more amazing sights, then be sure to visit <strong>Guillemins Train Station</strong> . This building, <strong>designed by Santiago Calatrava</strong> , was opened in 2009. Its construction took over 10 years. Mainly because the station had to continue to fulfill its function. The building has a white facade and a huge glass roof that illuminates its interior.</p><h3> Aquarium Museum </h3><figure id="attachment_71597" class="wp-caption alignleft hero-image"><img class="size-medium wp-image-71597" src="https://media.brate.com/images/europa/belgia/liege/liege-aquarium.jpg?tr=n-hero" alt="Aquarium-Museum" width="500" height="326"><figcaption class="caption"> Aquarium-Muséum, Liege, Belgium - © Brate</figcaption></figure><p> A slightly less obvious place to visit in Liege is <strong>the Aquarium Museum</strong> (Aquarium-Muséum, Quai Edouard Van Beneden 22). During your visit, you will be able to see <strong>150 species of aquatic animals</strong> from oceans, seas, lakes and rivers around the world, placed in fifty different tanks. In addition, animal skeletons and their models have been collected there. Quite a good place if you are going to Liege with children.</p>

What to see in Liege?

<p><strong>Liege</strong> is a large city located in the eastern, <strong>French-speaking part of Belgium</strong> . It is famous primarily for its interesting, historic old town. Within its area you can find numerous churches, tenement houses with beautiful architecture and museums. The most famous buildings in the city are the impressive <strong>Bishops&#39; Palace</strong> and the Collegiate Church of St. st. James from the 11th century! This Belgian city does not only consist of monuments. If you like a bit more modern architecture, then be sure to visit <strong>Guillemins Station</strong> , which was designed by the famous Santiago Calatrava. The same one that was behind the creation of the City of Arts and Sciences in Valencia.</p><h2> For whom?</h2><p> Definitely visit Liege if you like <strong>sightseeing</strong> , especially religious buildings. There is no shortage of those in the city. A visit to Liege will also be an interesting proposition <strong>for fans of history and architecture</strong> . There are many interesting examples of construction from different periods.</p>

A fantastic hotel, located close to the very center of Liege. It occupies the interior of a historic building. It has a large SPA with a swimming pool. After sightseeing and walking, we had a place to relax. The conditions in the hotel are excellent. It is both modern and historical. The price is high, but in our opinion it is worth it!

The Mercure hotel in Liege is located on the river. I wouldn&#39;t say right in the center, but quite close to it. An interesting fact is that it is located in former monastery buildings from the 17th century. The interiors are bright, spacious and quite modern. The price is quite affordable. The bad thing was that you had to pay extra for breakfast.

Pentahotel is great! I spent two nights here and was really very pleased. The hotel is located close to the center and highway exits. This is a great convenience for people with cars. It is certainly a very modern facility, offering a great standard. I recommend visiting the bar here.

An excellent hotel located in the very center, in a nice, classic tenement house. An ideal point for someone who, like me, would like to explore the city on foot. The room was very nice. A huge plus for the large, almost royal, king-sized bed. Moreover, the price was very affordable.
