When to go to Antwerp?

However, if you don&#39;t have much time for sightseeing, it will be better to rent a bike.</p><h3> Grote Markt</h3><p> The largest and most representative square of the city. It is a real <strong>gem of 16th-century architecture</strong> and a favorite meeting place for residents. There is the <strong>Brabo fountain</strong> by sculptor Jef Lambeaux, topped with a bronze statue of Silvius Brabo. The museum contains a collection of works by Rubens and his students, as well as other painters who worked in the same period as the master. You can also see what the everyday life of the painter and his family was like. Above the entrance gate to the stronghold there is a bas-relief of the pagan god Smini, whose touch is supposed to ensure fertility and a happy ending of pregnancy.</p><h3> Platin-Moretus Museum</h3><p> A 16th-century building <strong>of a perfectly preserved old printing house</strong> . Its center is the intersection of Rijfstraat and Hoveniersstraat (monitored by over 40 cameras). The best gemstone cutters work here, <strong>four diamond exchanges</strong> operate here and the largest and most serious diamond transactions in the world are made here. The most beautiful diamond jewelry can be admired on the windows of many well-protected jewelry stores.</p><h3> Fashion Museum</h3><p> A must-see on the Antwerp map for every fan of fashion and design. MoMu presents <strong>specially arranged temporary exhibitions</strong> presenting primarily the works of Belgian designers. At the exhibitions you can admire clothes, costumes, accessories, materials, tools and utensils used by designers. ATTENTION - until autumn 2020, the main seat of the museum will be closed due to renovation works. Alternative exhibitions and fashion events are organized at the Maurice Verbaet Center</p>

What to see in Antwerp?

<p>Antwerp is definitely <strong>more energetic and party-like than Brussels.</strong> The city&#39;s nightlife is vibrant around the banks of the Scheldt and in the very center and - most importantly - <strong>it only starts after midnight</strong> .</p><h3> Cocktails at Nine</h3><p> <strong>A stylishly decorated cocktail bar</strong> in an over 200-year-old building. In summer, a very nice atmosphere on the terrace, in winter, it is worth taking a seat inside, by the cozy fireplace. Rather expensive (Lijnwaadmarkt 9).</p><h3> Paters Vaetje</h3><p> One of the best pubs in town. <strong>Over 200 types of beer</strong> and very good food. Mixed company - students, tourists and locals looking for relaxation after work (Blauwmoezelstraat 1)..</p><h3> De Vagant</h3><p> <strong>The best Belgian jenever</strong> is served here - a thick gin made from molasses, with the addition of juniper. A cozy bar with an old atmosphere (Reyndersstraat 25).</p><h3> Café d&#39;Anvers</h3><p> <strong>A nightclub in a 16th-century church building.</strong> A disco with almost 30 years of tradition and an important point on the city&#39;s nightlife map. Open on Fridays and Saturdays from 23:00 until the morning (Verversrui 15).</p><h3> De Muze</h3><p> A legendary <strong>jazz pub, for years one of the hottest addresses in the city</strong> . Live music every day, full of people every day and great atmosphere (Melkmarkt 15).</p><h3> Ampere</h3><p> A classic nightclub with a cross-section of music that will appeal to everyone. <strong>The perfect place to move on the dance floor.</strong> Like Café d&#39;Anvers, it is open on Fridays and Saturdays from 23:00 to 07:30. Ampere is located <strong>underground under the tracks of the</strong> <strong>Central</strong> Station (Simonsstraat 21).</p><h3> Cargo Club (formerly Red and Blue)</h3><p> The most popular and <strong>largest gay club in Belgium.</strong> The program of events includes: go-go boys, erotic shows and drag queens. Only men are allowed at some events. One large room with an industrial atmosphere (Lange Schipperskapelstraat 11).</p>

Nightlife in Antwerp

<p>Antwerp is famous for <strong>diamonds, avant-garde fashion, Rubens and the most exciting nightlife in Belgium.</strong> The largest Belgian port and city, where even the train station is a real architectural gem, is a great idea for a weekend getaway. Perceived as less conservative than <a href="https://brate.com/europe/belgium/brussels/">Brussels</a> , Antwerp attracts mostly <strong>young and open-minded people from all over the world</strong> .
