Mogilev is the third largest city in Belarus, being a very important industrial and cultural center of the country. It is located near the border with Russia and you can feel a strong, eastern influence here even more clearly. Mogilev, however, also has Polish roots, as it was granted city rights by King Stefan Batory in 1577. During its long history, the city was an important point on the trade route connecting Moscow with Western Europe.

One of the most important monuments of the city is the baroque church of St. Stanislaus , the interior of which is decorated with one of the most valuable sets of frescoes in Belarus. Another interesting place is the nunnery of St. Nicholas , which includes the church from 1669, the belfry, the church of St. Onuphrius, the church house, and the whole is surrounded by a wall with towers and a gate from the end of the 17th century. The central square of the city is Sowiecki Square, next to which there is a historic town hall building. Lenin Street, which is the main pedestrian street of the city, passes next to it. In the center of Mogilev, it is worth paying attention to the amazing brick building of the City Theater , known as the Red Theater, and to the late Baroque palace of the Orthodox metropolitan. For lovers of Soviet modernism, the House of Soviets will be interesting, it was built when it was planned to move the capital of Belarus to Mogilev. However, this did not happen and now the huge building houses the administration of the Mogilev region.

For whom?

If you are interested in typically eastern climates , but prefer somewhat less crowded places, choose Mogilev. You will also like it when you are passionate about the history of the Republic of Poland and the eastern borderlands, then a trip to the city founded by Stefan Batory will be an interesting experience. If you would like to walk down Lenin Street, see his monument, or sit down in the Soviet Square, you can do it in Mogilev.

Hotel ATRIUM

A modern and high-class hotel located close to the center of Mogilev. Everything still smelled new, and the staff welcomed us nicely and with a smile. A SPA center and a swimming pool are available. Delicious breakfasts, but I also recommend going to the local restaurant for dinner. Fantastic local cuisine.

Metropol Hotel

We chose this hotel mainly because of the location. Perfectly right next to the main pedestrian street and most of the city's attractions. Moreover, it is a really great hotel that also offers a SPA, swimming pool, billiards, etc. The room was spacious and very comfortable. Another advantage is the local meals. There's something different for breakfast every morning, and it's also worth buying lunches. A place worth recommending.

If someone is looking for a budget accommodation in Mogilev, this is a pretty good option. There are no luxuries here, but the cleanliness and conditions are impeccable. The biggest advantage is the location, because the hotel is located on the Dnieper River in a quiet and peaceful place. During a not too long walk along the river you will reach the town hall and the main promenade.

Lira Boutique Hotel

Lira Hotel is a boutique-style facility located right next to the pedestrian street, Lenina Street. Interesting interior design. I really liked my room. Comfortable bed, there was also a fridge. Moreover, very nice and professional service. And all this for little money.

Gubernskaya Hotel

The hotel is located in the very center, on the Lenin promenade. The biggest advantage was the proximity to the city's attractions. The hotel is located in a renovated, historic tenement house and maintains a classic style. The room was large, comfortable and thoroughly cleaned. The service approaches the matter professionally. The hotel has a private parking lot, which is also a big advantage. The only thing I can complain about is the average quality of the breakfast.
