Lida is a small city with a very long and rich history. The best proof of this is the castle that is located in its center. The beginnings of the fortress date back to the first half of the 14th century. Over the years, the castle was part of the border of the Lithuanian state and its imposing defensive walls repelled many invasions and attacks. In the eighteenth century, its importance declined significantly until it was finally abandoned and began to fall into disrepair.

The current shape of the fortress was restored by a renovation that took 20 years and was completed only in 2010. Today, under the high walls, knight tournaments are held, and various exhibitions are organized inside. One of the preserved towers houses a museum. Another important monument in Lida is the baroque parish church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross from the 18th century. Inside, there is a painting of Our Lady of the Rosary, which, according to local legends, was brought to Lida by the Franciscans as early as the 14th century. The former Piarist church and the wooden church in Słobódka, which dates back to the 1930s, are also worth visiting. The city of Lida was proclaimed the capital of culture of Belarus by 2020 .

For whom?

If you are interested in medieval fortresses , you will love the impressive Lida Castle. Additionally, when you value places with a rich and long history, you cannot miss this city when visiting Belarus .

Hotel Lida

The hotel is ideally located in the city center, right next to the castle and close to other attractions. The decor and furnishings are not very modern, but the room was quite comfortable. Comfortable bed, nice staff and very well kept clean. There was nothing to complain about, and it wasn't expensive either.

Gedemin Lida Apartment

A spacious apartment for rent practically in the very center of the city. It is located in a new block of flats and all the furniture is also new. A fully equipped kitchen is available. A very comfortable option if someone decides to stay in the city for a longer time. Safe parking and a very nice owner who is happy to help if needed.

La Zamka

Great apartment, located perfectly opposite the castle. A very pleasant, modernly furnished apartment with everything missing. Self-catering, of course, but there is a fully equipped kitchen at your disposal, and there is a great restaurant right next door. Considering the conditions offered, the price was very attractive.

Hotel Ekvator

We chose this Ekvator hotel because of its location in the very center of the city. It had a private parking lot. That's why we explored the city and its attractions on foot. Our room was spacious and comfortable. Very nice and professional service. No breakfast or lunch available, but being in the city center, it was not a problem for us.

Apartment Zamok Gidimina

Upon arrival, the block in which the apartment is located did not make a good impression on us. But the apartment turned out to be freshly renovated. The equipment is complete, including a functional kitchen. It is close to the city center and its attractions and shops. There are no problems with parking. A very good option for an overnight stay.
