Kitzbuhel is a town situated at an altitude of just over 700 m above sea level. This is where the ski resort is located, which in 2015 was hailed as the best place of this type in the world. It offers 234 km of slopes for downhill skiing and 70 km for cross-country skiing. It has 57 lifts .

There are 60 mountain huts around with great restaurants. Snow cover remains here from October to May. Kitzbuhel can also boast a rich history, which of course is related to skiing. It was here that the first documented, fully alpine descent from the Kitzbüheler Horn in Austria took place. In 1893 this was done by Franz Reisch. The town also has a nice, well-kept center with typical Tyrolean buildings. For sure, a stay in Kitzbuhel will be a real treat for all avid skiers and snowboarders. The only downside to this place is very high prices.

For whom?

If your wallet is a bit richer and you want to ski in the best ski resort in the world , plan your winter vacation in Kitzbuhel. It is also a good proposition for people who have very high requirements for the slopes, their preparation and the accompanying infrastructure.

Gasthof Eggerwirt

The Eggerwirt guesthouse is a truly wonderful, very family-friendly and warm place. During my winter holiday in Kitzbuhel, I spent 6 days there and was delighted. Very nice owners and all the staff. Very nice, spacious, bright interior. Plus tasty breakfasts. It's not cheap, but in my humble opinion it's worth it.

Q! Hotel Maria Theresia

Hotel Maria Theresia is located very close to the center and about 5 minutes from the main cable car. Of course, it is adapted to the needs of skiers. The staff is very nice and willing to help and gave me tips on where to eat or have a drink in the city. A minor downside was the fact that WiFi didn't really work in my room.

Landsitz Römerhof - Hotel Apartments

A really great hotel located about 400 m from the Horbergbahn I cable car. So I can definitely recommend it to skiers. It is located in such a place that it offers quite pleasant views of the mountains. A big advantage is the indoor swimming pool. An ideal option to relax after a long day on the slopes. Nice room, fully equipped.

Hotel Tiefenbrunner

My wife and I decided to stay at the Tiefenbrunner hotel. It's quite a large facility, but surprisingly it can offer quite an intimate atmosphere. It has modern, nicely arranged interiors that are also very cozy. There is also a fantastic restaurant on site (in the former stable building). It's worth going there for dinner for two.
