Graz - the capital of Styria, situated on the River Mur, will surprise you from the very first minutes of your stay. On the one hand, the city is steeped in history that goes back to Roman times. On the other hand, it is a place full of art and modern architecture. The most important monuments include the Uhrturm tower, which is a reminder of the former fortress rising on a hill. Nowadays, it is a popular destination for walking and jogging.

The old town is filled with numerous elegant tenement houses, including the Landeszeughaus , a museum dedicated to weapons. If you prefer a bit more contemporary architecture then visit the Kunsthaus . The Art Museum in Graz has an intriguing, oval-shaped building. On the river Mur stands Murinsel, which is an artificial island, connected to both banks by bridges. Graz and its vicinity also offer a large amount of green areas. In addition to the aforementioned castle mountain, the Stadtpark , Augarten and the gardens surrounding Schloss Eggenberg also deserve attention. Graz also has quite a wide range of atmospheric pubs . As a result, you will have plenty to do here both during the day and at night.

For whom?

Graz can be considered a fairly universal travel destination , because everyone will find some interesting attractions here. Fans of history and architecture will be able to stroll through the historic center and visit local museums. Modern architecture enthusiasts should visit the Art Museum and the artificial island on the Mur River. However, if you like walking and beautiful vegetation , then you should go to the hill Schlossberg or to one of the parks located around the very center. Graz can also be a pleasant stop during your transit through Austria . For example, on the way to Croatia .

Hotel Daniel Graz

Hotel Daniel is a good option both for visiting Graz and if you are passing through. Quite a modern, pleasantly decorated facility. A comfortable bed in a spacious room. The service was nice, smiling and talkative. Breakfast is not included in the price, but you can easily find a place nearby to eat tasty food in the morning.

Augarten Art Hotel

Augarten Art Hotel is a real treat for fans of art and architecture. Due to the fact that I am interested in the topic, I immediately knew that I had to spend the night there. It was designed by a quite famous Austrian designer. The interiors are a bit ascetic, filled with white and interesting paintings. Of course it was expensive, but worth it!

Schlossberghotel - Das Kunsthotel

A great place to stay because it is located at the foot of the Schlossberg hill. The hotel itself is incredibly atmospheric and charming. It allows you to feel the atmosphere of Graz. Although it looks quite old from the outside, the interior is incredibly modern. The view of the city from the room is fabulous!

Parkhotel Graz - Traditional Luxury

In theory, this hotel is located a bit on the outskirts, but you can reach the old town in about 10 minutes. It is a very luxurious facility with beautifully arranged interiors. What I noticed was the parquet floor - it is rarely used in hotels. In addition, there is a small swimming pool, restaurant and bar on site. Parking for guests is free.

Palais Hotel Erzherzog Johann

I have very fond memories of staying at this hotel. First of all, it is located in a beautiful, elegant building in the very center of Graz. Very nice staff who took care of every aspect of my stay. The price included an excellent breakfast. The only drawback of the hotel is the lack of its own parking lot.
