El Jem (Al-Jamm) is a small town located halfway between Saphakis and Monastery. So it is quite close to it from the coast. You probably haven't heard of El Jem, but in a moment you'll find that it's worth a look. Even for a moment! Because in this city there is a stone amphitheater from Roman times (its construction began in the 2nd century AD).

The fourth largest facility of this type in the world! It is 149 m long, 122 m wide and 40 m high. It could hold, according to various estimates, from 30,000 to 60,000 spectators. Due to its historical values, it is under the protection of UNESCO . Visiting the amphitheater is undoubtedly the brightest point of staying in El Jem. There are also museums in the city. A slightly calmer atmosphere awaits you here too.

If you are a fan of monuments from Roman times , you will surely be delighted with the amphitheater in El Jem. A visit to this Tunisian city is also a real treat for all those interested in history and architecture.

There isn't much choice of hotels in the city, but Julius is really ok. First of all, it is located in the very center. Close to the most important attractions. Nice, well-kept and clean interior. Continental breakfasts included in the price. Intimate atmosphere.

This hotel is located on the outskirts of El Jem, but that suited us very well. Especially since after sightseeing, we wanted to rest in peace and quiet. And here we had it guaranteed. It is quite a modern facility, with bright, spacious interiors. Convenient parking. Breakfast included.
